Well said, Rowan! I agree. I'm also very troubled by these sorts of argument against voting. Non-voters are entitled to their opinions, but I believe that it's important to recognize the system we face. A few (tens of?) thousands of Pagans will have a tough time making positive change if we ignore the institutions that dominate our daily lives. The federal government is one such institution, and, if I want any say in how it's run, it is my responsibility (at least) to vote.

I�ll be 33 next week, so I�ve got some age on you (I think). I�m a rabid voter and have followed politics since I was about 5 (my family is huge into follow it like a sport). I typically vote independent (usually Green or Libertarian). This time I�m voting for Kerry. I usually get po�d when people say I�m throwing my vote away because I AM NOT. If it�s what I believe in, I�m not wasting it. Wasting it is not voting. This time, I�m voting defensively. It�s just *that* important this time that I�ve even changed my own rhetoric.
